NEWS IN BRIEF: Cancellation blow for brass band

STANNINGTON Brass Band’s concert at Weston Park Bandstand which was due to take place tomorrow has been called off.

Sheffield Council’s Parks and Countryside Service said the cancellation was due to ‘unforeseen circumstances’ and has apologised for any inconvenience.

Bikes stolen

TWO bikes were stolen from a house on Meadowhead Avenue, Meadowhead, Sheffield, overnight on Thursday. The theft has been reported to South Yorkshire Police.

Home burgled

AN investigation is under way into the theft of a haul of electrical items from Lupton Walk, Lowedges, Sheffield. They were taken during a burglary overnight on Thursday into yesterday.

Cars collide

EMERGENCY services were called out to Handsworth Road, Handsworth, Sheffield, to deal with a two-car collision yesterday morning. Nobody was trapped in the vehicles.

Garage raided

CAR parts have been reported missing from a garage in Sheffield following a burglary. The garage on Bawtry Road, Tinsley, reported the break-in on Thursday. Anyone with information should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 and quote incident number 484 of June 7.Car overturns

A MOTORIST escaped with minor injuries after his car overturned and landed on its roof near Forgemasters, Brightside Lane, Sheffield. The Renault Clio ran out of control at 10.45am yesterday and ended up in the middle of the carriageway.

Caravan arson

A DISUSED caravan was set alight in a suspected arson attack in Stainforth, Doncaster, yesterday. Thorne fire crews were called just after 3am to Station Road where the derelict caravan parked behind commercial premises was well alight. It took almost half an hour to deal with the incident.
