NEWS IN BRIEF: Arsonists set fire to trees at house

A WOMAN needed oxygen after she tried to put out burning trees set on fire by arsonists near her home.

The conifer trees caught fire at around 8pm on Thursday on Lepton Gardens, Kendray, and the 21-year-old woman inhaled smoke when she attempted to fight the blaze herself.

A fire crew from Barnsley Station then attended the scene.

Motorbike set alight

ARSONISTS are believed to be responsible for setting fire to a Honda motorbike on Douglas Road, Parkwood Springs, Sheffield, at around 6pm on Thursday. The burning bike was near the bridge to the Sheffield Ski Village, and was extinguished by a crew from Central fire station.

Car flips on Wicker

THE Wicker in Sheffield city centre was closed for more than an hour after a car overturned.

No other vehicle was involved in the incident, at about 7pm on Thursday, and the cause is being investigated. The driver was freed from the wreckage by firefighters and treated for shock but otherwise unhurt.
