ARSONISTS have been blamed for a spate of fires.

A BMW X6 car was targeted on Mansfield Road, Intake, Sheffield, at 12.15am yesterday. Meanwhile, a garden fence on Foster Way, High Green, was set alight at midnight on Wednesday. Two bins were set on fire on Well Drive, Thrybergh, on Sunday.

And firefighters had to retreat from a derelict bungalow on Weetshaw Lane, Cudworth, due to fears the roof could collapse after an arson attack on Saturday.

Cannabis seized

CANNABIS plants worth £9,000 were found by police in a raid on a house in Rawmarsh on April 2 and a 28-year-old man was arrested.

Officers also arrested a man after finding cannabis plants in his flat on Spring Close View, Gleadless Valley, on Sunday.

Motorway van fire

A VAN caught fire on the southbound M1 between junctions 37 and 36 on Wednesday afternoon.
