Lights for busy town junction?

bawtry Town Council has been asked by Doncaster highway engineers if members will consider releasing an area at the corner of Market Hill – in order for the local authority to consider the installation of traffic lights at the busy junction of High Street and Tickhill Road.

The town council says it agrees in principle with the request and has left it with the local authority to conduct a costing exercise.

Charity benefit

the annual charity carol concert at St Mary’s Church, Tickhill, was successful in raising £500 for Lost Chord, which provides musicians who perform at care homes and day centres for those suffering with dementia.

The concert featured the Sheffield Singers and Ella Taylor, BBC Radio 2’s 2010 Choirgirl of the Year.

Light lit up

fire crews were called to St Anne’s Road in Belle Vue in the early hours of Saturday morning after a lamppost caught fire. They used dry powder extinguishers to put the flames out in about 15 minutes.

Trip perform

The Madeleine Mitchell Trio have been booked to perform a concert entitled Jazzed Up for members of Sprotbrough Music Society at St Mary’s Church Hall on Thursday at 7.30pm. The programme includes music by Shostakovitch, Weill and Gershwin.

Ancestry aid

Doncaster and District Family History Society will be manning a help desk at the Central Library on Thursday from 10am to noon to help visitors with research into their ancestry.

Night of ballet

The Moscow Ballet will be taking to the stage at Doncaster Civic Theatre tomorrow to perform the love story of Coppelia. The show starts at 7pm and tickets are £26 and £17.50, or £13 for students.

Beer outing

campaigN for Real Ale members will be enjoying a social evening at The Little Plough Beer Festival in West Laith Gate on Saturday from 7.30pm. The festival runs from Thursday to Sunday.

Lead on

the Get Doncaster Walking festival continues on Saturday morning with a Town Field Walkies dog walk, at 10.30am, from the pavilion.
