You’ll have the time of your lives

The huge hit show Dirty Dancing will make its Sheffield premiere at the Lyceum Theatre in April 2014 as part of a new UK tour.

The show is based on the iconic 1980s movie, starring Jennifer Gray and Patrick Swayze, about a rich young woman who falls for a dance instructor at an upmarket resort.

Tickets go on sale on Saturday, March 23 from www.dirtydancingontour.com.

Dishwasher blaze

TWO fire engines were sent to a house on Collegiate Crescent, Broomhall, Sheffield, after a dishwasher went up in flames. But when crews arrived at the house at 10.30pm on Wednesday the flames were already out.

M1 traffic signals

WORK to install traffic lights on the M1 at junction 36 is to begin on Monday. The project is expected to last until the end of April. North and southbound exit slip roads will be closed overnight between 8pm and 6am daily.

Suspicious driver

POLICE are re-appealing for help in tracing a motorist who called out to two girls leaving a park. The man’s ‘suspicious’ behaviour was reported by the girls, aged 11 and 12, on New Year’s Day in Chesterfield. He was white, clean shaven, and possibly had a skin complaint.

Grow your own

GREEN fingered Sheffielders can sign up to a new grow-your-own food course. The £50 Ediculture Course ‘for health, wealth and happiness’ promotes organic self-sufficiency over 10 sessions. The course begins on March 4 and runs every Monday from 7pm to 9pm. Call 07771 832759.

New school peek

A TASTE of life at a new proposed school for gifted students is on offer at an open event. Budding students and parents are invited to the Life at Chapeltown Academy event on March 2 at The Source near Meadowhall.

Car set ablaze

A VAUXHALL Zafira burning on Crowder Avenue, Southey Green, Sheffield, had been set alight deliberately. Firefighters were called to tackle the blaze at 5am yesterday.
