Building society branch is to close

THE Co-operative Bank in Chesterfield is not earmarked for closure, as reported in The Star on January 26. We apologise for the error.

The Co-operative Bank announced 37 branch closures last week, but it is the Britannia building society branch on Market Place in the town which is to close by the end of this year. A Co-operative Bank spokeswoman said: “Customers will be notified of the closure date in due course. Customers who use the Britannia branch will be able to complete their transactions, from the date of the closure, at The Co-operative Bank branch on Elder Way, Chesterfield.”

Robbers hurt man

police are hunting two robbers who targeted a man walking home through Eckington.

The 25-year-old was pushed into an alleyway off High Street and knocked to the ground. He was forced to hand over his wallet, then knocked unconscious. He escaped with cuts and bruises. Witnesses to the incident at 4.30pm on Sunday, or anyone with information, should call Derbyshire Police on 101.

Cannabis seizure

CANNABIS plants were found by police who raided a house on Middle Hay Close, Gleadless Valley, Sheffield. One man was arrested on Friday.

Stolen scooter

A SCOOTER parked on the Newfield School car park, Norton Lees, Sheffield, was stolen last Thursday afternoon.

House break-in

A HOUSE was broken into during daylight hours when a window was smashed to gain entry last Thursday.
