Fire crews’ return visit to cul-de-sac

FIRE crews attended two incidents on the same Sheffield cul-de-sac just hours apart.

They were called to Patmoor Road, Firth Park, on Sunday at 2am and 4am.

One incident involved a central heating boiler leaking on to a fuse box and the other was about water leaking on to a fire.

Crew manager Richard Holmeshaw, of Elm Lane fire station, said: “Obviously they were unrelated, but it was strange to get two such incidents on the same street hours apart.”

Pet saved from flat

A DOG was rescued from a smoke-filled flat in Sheffield.

Fire crews brought the animal out of the premises on Skelton Walk, Woodhouse, on Saturday, at about 8.30pm.

The flat’s resident, a man in his twenties, had been cooking when he became distracted and his food caught fire.

He escaped unharmed and crews from Mansfield Road fire station attended to tackle the fire and retrieve his dog.

Robbery charge

A SHEFFIELD man charged with robbing a shop has been remanded in custody.

John Murray, aged 54, is accused of robbing a convenience store in Market Square, Woodhouse on Wednesday.

Murray, of Darnall, appeared before Sheffield Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

He was remanded until his next hearing at Sheffield Crown Court, which will take place later this month.

Car is set alight

FIREFIGHTERS dealt with a burning Renault Megane on Overend Way, Gleadless Valley, after it was set alight by arsonists.

A crew from Mansfield Road fire station was called out on Friday, at about 1.30am.

Pizza box blaze

A MAN set fire to his kitchen after placing a pizza box on top of a gas cooker.

He managed to put out the flames at a house on Shenstone Road, Herringthorpe, Rotherham, before town fire crews attended on Friday, at 11.30pm.

Woman found safe

A MISSING pregnant woman has been found after a police appeal.

Police said Mona Youssef, aged 23, who reported missing from Sheffield last Wednesday was ‘safe and well’.
