NEWS IN BRIEF:

Inquiries continue into snow attack

NO ARRESTS have yet been made over an attack on two Sheffield schoolboys set upon while playing in the snow.

Josh Ellis, aged 11, was attacked with a nine-year-old pal on Watermeet Road, Malin Bridge, on January 22. A red Suzuki-type vehicle pulled up alongside them, and a man jumped out and beat them up.

Clothes caught fire

A FIRE started at a house in Sheffield after a pile of clothes was set alight by accident. Crews from Tankersley and Stocksbridge stations went to Spring Hall Lane, Stocksbridge, but the flames were out by the time they arrived.

House burglary

A LARGE amount of cash, a laptop, a Samsung Notebook and an Xbox were all stolen from a house on Duke Street, Creswell, between 3.30pm and 6pm on Saturday.

Windy Woodhead

STRONG winds meant the A628 Woodhead Pass had to be closed to high-sided vehicles yesterday afternoon.
