Power cut affects countless homes
TENS of thousands of homes in South Yorkshire were hit by power cuts yesterday. Supplies to 76,000 households in Sheffield, Rotherham, and Barnsley stopped at around 1.45pm. Northern Powergrid’s central control room worked to re-route supplies for most properties within 15 minutes, but around 200 homes had to wait until around 4.20pm. Weather caused the problem.
Clothes caught fire
A FIRE started at a house in Sheffield after a pile of clothes was set alight by accident. Crews went to Spring Hall Lane, Stocksbridge, but the flames were out by the time they arrived.
STRONG winds meant the A628 Woodhead Pass was closed to all vehicles yesterday. It reopened at 4.30pm.
A LARGE amount of cash, a laptop, a Samsung Notebook and an Xbox were all stolen from a house on Duke Street, Creswell, on Saturday.
