Road to be closed for electric works

MOTORISTS are warned a road through a South Yorkshire village will be closed for a fortnight.

Wath Road in Elsecar is to shut from Monday, January 28, from the junction with Tingle Bridge Lane. A Barnsley Council spokeswoman said: “The temporary closure will allow Northern Powergrid to install electric services. The works are expected to last approximately two weeks.”

Chapeltown Academy would cater for the brightest sixth formers in the north of Sheffield if approved by education chiefs. Fascinating history

RETIRED gents are invited to discover a fascinating criminal case from the 1800s at a meeting of a Sheffield Probus Club. The event, which features a talk on the story of the allegation that the 5th Duke of Portland led a double life as Thomas Charles Druce, takes place at Holy Trinity Church Hall, Grove Road, Millhouses, on the morning of next Monday, January 21.
