Religious parade takes to streets

MOSQUES in Sheffield will celebrate the birth of the Prophet Muhammad on Sunday with prayers, speeches and a procession. The Madina Masjid Mosque is hosting the event. Prayers will be held in the mosque at 1pm, followed by the hour-long procession from Wolseley Road, and speeches in Urdu and English.

Heroin court date

TWO men have appeared in court over heroin supply after being stopped on the M1 near Nottingham.

The pair, both from Rotherham, were stopped in a vehicle near junction 26 on Saturday night. They were arrested and later charged with being concerned in the supply of heroin. They appeared at Loughborough Magistrates’ Court on Monday, and were remanded in custody until a further hearing this month.

Burning vehicle

FIREFIGHTERS were called to a burning car on the A617 near Chesterfield. The hatchback was well alight when crews from Chesterfield and Clay Cross arrived at 2.20pm on Monday. Police also attended to control traffic, and the fire was out by 2.40pm.

Skip in flames

A RUBBISH skip went up in flames in a car park in Sheffield after being set alight deliberately at 10.05pm on Monday in the car park at Hillsborough Park. A fire crew from Rivelin station put out the flames.

Blaze on open land

A FIRE crew was called to extinguish a rubbish fire on a patch of open ground on North View Street, Carr Vale, Bolsover, at 7.15pm on Monday. Firefighters used a water jet to douse the flames.

Outbuilding blaze

AN OUTBUILDING went up in flames in an arson attack on Beaver hill Road, Woodhouse, at 6.20am on Saturday.
