Loose horse killed when hit by car

A HORSE was killed when it was struck by a car on the A6135 between Renishaw and Barlborough, Derbyshire.

Firefighters said the horse was one of three which were wandering loose on the road at the time of the collision – Friday at about 9.15pm.

The 66-year-old driver of the car involved had to be cut free from his vehicle by firefighters and was taken to hospital..

Two boilers stolen

BOILERS have been stolen from homes on Morland Road, Gleadless Valley and Lingfoot Walk, Jordanthorpe, both in Sheffield.

Both crimes were committed between Thursday and Friday.

School blaze

FIREFIGHTERS from Chesterfield and Staveley battled to save a school after a blaze broke out on Saturday night.

The fire at St Anselms School, Bakewell, started in a plant room next to the swimming pool.
