Student Georgia’s designs on success

YOU have to hand it to Sheffield College student Georgia Ali who has won a national design competition run by the British Glove Association.

The 18-year-old came first in the Lady Mayoress category with a design for a blue glove trimmed with lace and a tassel on the cuff.

Georgia is studying fashion and textiles at the college’s Hillsborough campus.

Assembly meeting

THE next meeting of Sheffield Council’s south east community assembly – for Beighton, Birley, Mosborough and Woodhouse residents – takes place on Thursday at Birley Community College.

There will be a meet the cabinet event at 5pm, followed by the assembly meeting at 7pm.

Dressed for charity

PUPILS at Sheffield’s Fir Vale School raised more than £500 for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, North Anston, and Pencils of Promise with a non-uniform day.

Staff got into the action too by wearing a varied selection of seasonal jumpers.

Luke’s casino date

SINGER Luke Brobbin will be performing jazz and modern pop songs at a Sheffield casino later this month.

He will be appearing at Genting Club Sheffield, Arundel Gate, city centre, on Saturday, January 19, from 9pm.
