New fishmonger set for town

Tickhill residents can look forward to having their own fishmonger in the village in the New Year.

The premises previously occupied by Reloved Interiors on the corner of Castlegate and Sunderland Street is to become a second Zuvu fresh fish and seafood bar at the beginning of January.

Shop owners Robert and Louise Atkinson, who live in Austerfield, already run the Zuvu shop in Dower House Square, Bawtry, which opened in May. Louise is half-Lithuanian and Zuvu means fish in the language.

Book a stall

The parish council at Rossington is organising its annual Christmas fair which will take place at Rossington Miners’ Welfare Club on Friday, December 14, from 2.30pm to 6.30pm.

Check-up

test Your Health nurses will be at the Trades and Labour Club, in the Frenchgate Centre, on Friday, December 7, between 10am and 3pm to provide free cardiovascular health checks to people who are over 40 and are registered with a Doncaster doctors’ surgery.

Car destroyed

Thorne fire crews were called to Marshland Road, Moorends, early yesterday after a car was reported on fire. By the time they put it out it was not possible to identify the make and model. A spokesman said it was started deliberately.

School fair

Misterton Primary School’s Christmas fair takes place today from 4pm to 5.30pm, with refreshments served from 3.30pm. So far this year the Parents Teachers’ Association has raised more than £2,000.

Make a wreath

forest rangers at Brodsworth Community Woodland, off Long Lands Lane, near Woodlands, are running a Christmas wreath-making session on Friday, December 7, from 10am to noon. Call 07768 808432.
