A drive for new card players

The organisers of a whist drive that has been running in Tickhill for the past 40 years are on the lookout for new members, whether they are beginners of have never played the card game before.

It was originally started by the late Bernard and Lily Marsden and ran for many years in the Parish Room. It is now co-ordinated by Judith Black and takes place every Tuesday from 6.45pm in the Castle Close Community Centre, off Castlegate.

Success brewing

Speciality tea importer Ann Davis, of The Tea Experience in Sprotbrough, Doncaster, has been chosen as the sole supplier for a new Scandinavian cafe in Harrogate, Baltzersen’s, which is being opened by former Army officer Paul Rawlinson, and named after his Norwegian grandmother.

Quiet fireworks

Doncaster Concert Band will entertain visitors to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park at Branton before a spectacular noiseless fireworks display tomorrow from 3pm to 5pm.
