Pupils learn about support officers

CHILDREN at a Sheffield school learnt about police community support officers.

Twelve Year 6 pupils at Wisewood Primary School spent eight weeks getting an insight into the work of PCSOs in the city’s communities.

PC Joy Price, who led the scheme, said: “We’ve given them an understanding of how they can contribute to reducing crime in their area.”

Improve your skills

LEARNDIRECT and Asda are launching a new scheme aimed at improving shoppers’ skills and job prospects.

On Wednesday, shoppers at Sheffield’s Handsworth Road Asda store will be able to meet Learndirect representatives in the store’s cafe and receive help, advice and information on how they can improve their skills and job prospects.

Centre staff dig in

VOLUNTEERS from Capita’s Dearne Valley call centre and mobile phone operator O2 lent a hand at a children’s centre.

The 30-strong team cleared an overgrown garden at the Brookfield Centre, Swinton.
