Colliery site ‘must be regenerated’

Bolsover District Council has written to the Homes and Communities Agency objecting to the proposed removal of the former Creswell Colliery site from the National Coalfields Programme of regeneration.

Factors include a lack of agreement between the landowner Welbeck Estates and the council on a viable scheme. But Coun Alan Tomlinson said the site had to stay on the list for the benefit of local communities. The landowners are also understood to have objected.

Boys, 14, arrested

TWO boys aged just 14 have been arrested by police on suspicion of robbery after a 34-year-old woman’s purse and phone were stolen on a Sheffield street.

She was threatened and robbed on Shirebrook Road at 10.30pm last Sunday.

Probe into car theft

POLICE are investigating the theft of a car from Westwick Road, Greenhill, overnight on Sunday into Monday. Call police on 101 to pass on information.
