South Yorkshire MP Angela Smith became milk monitor for the day when she paid a visit to a small village school.

The Labour MP for Penistone and Stocksbridge was a special guest at Hoylandswaine Primary School, where events were taking place to celebrate free milk in schools.

The visit was organised as part of a campaign to encourage children to drink milk and understand its nutritional benefits.

Angela’s visit was organised by Cool Milk, one of the country’s leading school milk suppliers.

John Sedgwick, managing director, said establishing good eating and social habits through milk schemes was a vital part of a child’s education.

He said: “School milk provides a great boost for children, because it is such a wholesome and nutritional product which they should all have access to.”
