Work is due to get under way on a major new Sheffield city centre development of student apartments.
The £4 million project at the junction of Rockingham Street and Portobello Road has been designed by the team at award-winning Sheffield architectural agency Coda Studios, based on Mowbray Street.
The seven-storey structure - to be built in distinctive black brick - will house more than 100 high quality student beds once finished.
“We are delighted that this project is now about to start,” said David Cross, managing director of Coda Studios.
“The construction work is being carried out by a local contractor and that means bringing more work into the Sheffield economy.
“That is something we always aim to achieve in all our projects.”
David said the building will one day be a city landmark. “We really believe that this development will be another distinctive city centre landmark location,” he said.
