The sites earmarked for new homes, industrial and retail space in Rotherham will be put forward for council approval next week.
The ‘Sites and Policies’ document is part of a 15 year ‘Local Plan’ that sets out the council’s approach to meet the need for new homes and jobs, to promote economic growth and regenerate the borough.
After a rigorous consultation and selection process, 140 sites have been identified. The plan meets the targets for around 14,000 new homes, 20,000 square metres of retail floor space and 235 hectares of industrial land. Once approved by council, the final document will be put forward for a six-week public consultation before being submitted to the Government for public examination by an independent planning inspector.
