A bar constructed from shipping containers can be built after plans were agreed for the first venue of its kind in Yorkshire.

Plans for the £500,000 Krynkl venture in Shalesmoor, which will also include a restaurant, offices and health club, were unanimously agreed by planners yesterday.

The ground and top floors have already been pre-let to the Milestone restaurant group.

Coun Chris Roslings-Joseph told the planning committee: “There are a number of developments like this in London.

“Things like this will start attracting more people – it just makes an area buzzing and bring more and more people into the area.”

Coda Planning, which has developed the scheme, previously said it would be the first of its kind in Yorkshire.

The vacant piece of land on Shalesmoor will have the 23 corrugated steel containers stacked on it to create a three-storey buiding.

Health club firm Be X Fitness has also signed up to move in, along with a barbers.
