Sheffield MP Nick Clegg has spoken of his delight at the opening of a new park and ride facility at Dore and Totley train station in Sheffield.
The 130-space facility, which opened in April, came after residents complained for years about commuters clogging up local streets with their vehicles.
Mr Clegg, Deputy Prime Minster and Liberal Democrat MP for Sheffield Hallam, said: “I welcome the opening of the new park-and-ride facility.
“It has been a long hard battle fought by local Liberal Democrats and residents to try to resolve the parking issues around the station.
“At times it seemed as though we would never see action, so I’m delighted the new £400,000 facility is now open.
“I know this is something welcomed by both users of Dore and Totley Station and local residents.
“It is a fantastic achievement for everyone involved in pressing the case.
“There will be £37.5 billion of investment over the next five years in our rail infrastructure which will lead to many improvements.”
