People in Sheffield who are struggling with their finances will be able get advice and support from three new debt advisers thanks to grant funding from the British Gas Energy Trust to Shelter.

The advisers, who will be located in Shelter’s housing advice centre at Furnival Gate in Sheffield, will help people in the area manage their finances, improve energy efficiency and bring down monthly bill costs.

Some struggling families will be able to apply to the trust for help to clear their energy debts, and for energy efficient appliances like fridges and cookers.

Shelter operations manager Lisa Smith said: “With housing costs sky-high and so many families struggling to make ends meet, these adviser posts couldn’t come at a better time.”
