New police appeal after serious crash
POLICE are making a fresh appeal for witnesses to a car smash in Sheffield which left two people seriously injured.
The crash happened when a Ford Focus came out of Wortley Road, High Green, on to Westwood New Road in front of a blue Peugeot 307 heading towards Sheffield from Tankersley.
The Peugeot crossed the carriageway and struck a black Renault Scenic heading in the opposite direction. The silver coloured Ford driver stopped but then left the scene.
The Peugeot driver, a 31-year-old man from Sheffield, suffered a serious head injury, while the 33-year-old female passenger sustained fractures and cuts to her head.
Both are still being treated at the Northern General and are serious but stable.
The Renault passenger, a 73-year-old woman from Crosspool, fractured her back, while the 73-year-old male driver suffered minor whiplash.
The 39-year-old Sheffield woman, driving the Ford, and her 29-year-old female passenger, were arrested and bailed pending further inquiries.
Officers want to speak to a man who left written information after the crash at 10am on Saturday August 21. Witnesses should call 0114 220 2970.
