A new operator is being sought for Wisewood sports centre, almost a year since the city council took over the reins when Forge Valley School converted to academy status.
A report confirming the decision to put the running of the facility out to tender on 10-year contract said the measure would ‘secure the longer-term future of the centre’.
A ‘highly competitive contract price or payment’ is required, the report said, adding: “Bidders will be asked to demonstrate their ability and track record in attracting low participant groups to facilities and particularly those suffering from poor health.”
The centre employs 14 staff, alongside 11 casual workers. The deadline for bids is August 28 and a preferred bidder will be chosen in September.
