A NEW man has taken on the ceremonial role at a north Derbyshire council.
Coun Brian Wright has accepted the official chain of office as the new chairman of North East Derbyshire District, performing the role of the civic mayor.
Coun Wright, who represents the Clay Cross South ward, has taken on the role from outgoing chairman, Coun Ann Holmes.
He has chosen Rainbows Hospice for children and young people to benefit from this year’s Chair’s Charity appeal.
Coun Wright is also a Clay Cross Parish councillor, a member of Chesterfield Volunteer Centre and a governor at Sharley Park Community Primary School. His consort is his wife, Susan.
Coun Ken Savidge, who represents the Clay Cross North ward, is the new vice chairman of the council.
