New man takes over at helm

AN EXPERIENCED local government official has taken over as a clerk to a South Yorkshire parish council.

David Morton, from Gleadless, has worked for both Sheffield and Barnsley councils and has been clerk to Eyam, Thorpe Salvin and Anston parish councils and Maltby Town Council.

He has now been appointed clerk to Ecclesfield Parish Council, which covers Chapeltown, Ecclesfield, Grenoside and High Green has a population of 40,000 – one of the largest parish councils in the north of England.
