New look for lollipop staff

School crossing patrol staff across South Yorkshire are getting new uniforms.

School crossing patrol staff across South Yorkshire are getting new uniforms.

LOLLIPOP men and woman are heading out on patrol sporting a ‘fresh, new look to help make them more visible to drivers’.

In total, 290 school crossing patrols have started wearing the bright uniforms across South Yorkshire for the start of the new school term - as 2013 marks the 60th anniversary of the very first school crossing patrol in the UK, set up in 1953.

The improved uniforms are being introduced as The Star is campaigning for better road safety outside schools, to reduce accidents.
