NEW traffic lights are being switched on to control vehicles at one of Rotherham’s busiest junctions.
A year-long project to improve safety and relieve congestion at Mushroom Roundabout at Dalton has finished.
Pedestrian crossings now feature on all four exits of the roundabout and resurfacing work has taken place.
Rotherham Council said the work would improve traffic flow and bus reliability, relieve congestion, reduce pollution and ensure pedestrian safety. The lights will be switched on from tomorrow.
Coun Gerald Smith, cabinet member for town centres, economic growth and prosperity, said: “The roundabout will now be a safer and cleaner corner of Rotherham.”
