A new 25-year lease has been agreed for Stocksbridge Leisure Centre.
A new longer lease to secure the future of Stocksbridge Leisure Centre has been agreed today.
Councillors agreed the move, which means group 4SLC can now apply for funding, at a cabinet meeting this afternoon.
The leisure centre was reopened last year after a community campaign to save it, following the withdrawal of funding from Sheffield Council due to Government budget cuts.
Group 4SLC is applying for grants to continue improving the facility, including a £50,000 pot which would help to reopen the swimming pool by paying for new energy-saving equipment.
Penistone and Stocksbridge MP Angela Smith said: “I’m very pleased that the group has got the funding because it means they can now get the investment they need.”
