PUPILS at a Sheffield school are enjoying some lovely lunches - now the school has its very own kitchen.

A special opening event at Norton Free CE Primary School saw 160 youngsters tucking into one of their favourite dinnertime treats - fishfingers, chips and peas.

For afters there were iced buns - which had been iced by the children themselves the day before.

Coun Ian Auckland, chair of governors, was one of the guests at the official opening day, along with Tom Shutt, sous chef at the nearby Double Tree Hotel, Meadowhead.

Headteacher Helena Button said it was the first time the current school building had its own working kitchen based on the premises.

“We had a really nice day. The lunches are wonderful now, so much better than before, so we decided to make a special occasion of the opening,” she said.
