A jobs fair is to be held in a Sheffield suburb to help local residents find work.

Housing provider Sanctuary Housing has teamed up with community regeneration charity SOAR to host the fair in Firth Park Library on Friday, October 9.

A range of Sheffield employers, including Samfos Health, Keepmoat and Skills Made Easy, will be on hand to promote job vacancies.

Residents will have the chance to sign up for a one-to-one CV workshop and receive advice on what employers are looking for.

Advisers from Sheffield College and Jobcentre Plus will be available to talk about training opportunities and local apprenticeships.

The jobs fair forms part of Sanctuary’s wider support of SOAR, with a funding award of nearly £5,000 to the charity going towards the running of job clubs in the area.

Last year’s donation from Sanctuary saw 32 residents secure employment through the job club service.

Sophie Lejeune-Peggie, Sanctuary’s neighbourhood partnerships manager for Shiregreen, said: “It’s so important for residents to have access to employment and training opportunities and by working in partnership with SOAR we are helping local community members achieve their career ambitions.

“If you’re looking for a new job or training opportunity, come along to our jobs fair. Over 100 people attended the last event and we’d like to see even more people this year.”

SOAR’s weekly job clubs are held at the One Stop Shop, Bellhouse Road, Sheffield, Monday to Friday from 9.30am-noon and 12.30pm-3.30pm.
