New home for Sheffield based Olympian

Page, a Sheffield resident, who took the trampolining silver medal for Team GB in Rio this June, made the move to Graves, on the Bochum Parkway in Norton, following the opening of a brand new gymnastics hall a month ago.

"I'm just really excited, there is so much going on here its unbelievable. We've got a full purpose built gymnastics centre, an Olympic standard trampoline, and four recreational trampolines sunk into the floor.

"We've got a pit, we've got gymnastics floor beams, bars, everything"

Alongside these facilities will be a swimming pool and a fitness suite, something that Bryony was particularly pleased about.

"I'm really looking forward to it. We would not have been able to do this without the support of British Gymnastics. I'm just so excited to be part of this and make it my second home in Sheffield."

The 25 year old, originally from Crewe, came to the University of Sheffield to study Biology, graduating in 2015. She will be using the facilities as her home training ground, along with her British Gymnastics High Performance Coach, Paul Greaves,

“The new trampoline and gymnastics centre is one of the best purpose built facilities in the country and indeed Europe.” said Paul.

“Any budding future Olympians will have every opportunity of achieving their dreams in a facility like this.

“I've dedicated my life to the sport for the last 24 years and began pushing for amazing facilities 15 years ago and now it's finally here.

“Sheffield has a great history in trampoline with many British and International Champions as well as my current top performer Olympic Silver medallist Bryony Page, let's hope we have many more future Olympic medallists coming through the centre”.

The dedicated gymnastics and trampoline hall has been designed and funded by British Gymnastics for a cost of £200,000.

Councillor Mary Lea, Cabinet Member for Culture, Sport and Leisure at Sheffield City Council said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Bryony to train here at Graves and proud to offer Olympic standard facilities in Sheffield.

“Graves has top class facilities across all sports and fitness areas making it the perfect home for nurturing our sports stars of the future and increasing activity levels across our communities. Bryony is a great asset for the centre and following her inspirational silver medal performance in Rio, I’m sure it’s going to be packed out.”

Centre Manager, Alex Greaves, said: “We’re very excited to have Bryony training here and look forward to following her amazing journey. I hope that many more up and coming gymnasts will follow in her footsteps and look forward to supporting them all in achieving their goals.
