A SMALL estate of 22 highly energy efficient family homes in Barnsley is nearing completion.
The houses, built by South Yorkshire Housing Association, in partnership with Barnsley Council, in Cross Lane, Royston, are part of the Green Corridor programme which has been in operation since 2003.
The four-bedroom and three-bedroom homes, which are expected to be completed by September, are a combination of 18 rental and four shared ownership properties.
Each of the 22 residences has been built to a contemporary design, combining natural cedar cladding and brickwork with large picture windows.
Martin Powell, South Yorkshire Housing Association project manager, said: “Not only does this development help satisfy housing need in Royston, it also demonstrates how partnership working can tap into a range of funding streams for the benefit of the local community and the environment.”
