A SMALL Barnsley school is set to join the Government’s Free School movement - abandoning its current fee-paying status.
The change will mean Barnsley Christian School will receive funding directly from the Government for around 70 pupils, aged from four to 16.
The school on Blucher Street, part of the Hope House Church, is in its 25th year and governors believe the change will allow it to grow and develop further.
The revamped school will have a Christian ethos, and will be all ability, non-selective, mixed, and for all ages.
Governors say it will place no emphasis upon ability, race, religious affiliation or gender and the pupils’ success will be based on mastering the core skills of literacy and numeracy early on.
