New drive to keep motorcyclists safe

Learning pack helps news riders to stay safe '''Derby and Derbyshire Road Safety Partnership is offering motorcycle trainers a free learning pack which teaches new riders how to survive the challenges they will face.''The Know the Dangers learning pack was developed by two East Midlands Partnerships ' the Bare Bones Project and Shiny Side Up Partnership ' which are both made up of road safety professionals from Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire. ''The images in the pack help riders to understand the dangers they will face by providing a bird's eye view of everyday riding activities such as overtaking, turning right and filtering past stationary traffic. MOTORCYCLE trainers are being offered free learning packs which teach new riders how to survive the challenges they will face on the region’s road.

The Know the Dangers pack was developed by road safety professionals from Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire to help new help riders understand the dangers they will face.

Trainers are being encouraged to use the pack with new riders who are undergoing the Compulsory Basic Training course they must complete before riding on public roads.

Andy Adlington, Derby and Derbyshire road safety partnership’s motorcycle project officer, said: “Motorcyclists are vulnerable – all they’ve got to protect them is their skills and their riding gear. We hope that the Know the Dangers learning pack will help new riders to stay safe on our roads.
