South Yorkshire’s Chief Constable has welcomed a new Code of Ethics for police officers.
It sets out the standards of behaviour the public can expect from officers and staff.
Chief Constable David Crompton said: “South Yorkshire Police welcomes the Code of Ethics which sets out a national standard and will guide ethical decision-making in the complex policing environment.”
South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner Shaun Wright said: “The Code of Ethics sets out what good policing looks like and I’m confident that, for the vast majority of South Yorkshire Police, this means business as usual.
“Sharing this widely empowers the public and our partner agencies to hold the force to account.”
