A new bar is set to open its doors to punters after taking up a vacant plot on West Street.
New tenants Bar & Beyond are expected to open its doors for a launch party on Friday, September 16, in time for Freshers' Week.
Builders have moved into the city centre site as part of a £850,000 renovation and bar chiefs say will create 50 jobs both full and part-time.
The student bar chain Varsity closed its doors in Sheffield back in 2013 and after a brief tenure from another firm, the site has been largely vacant ever since.
The 665 capacity bar will open seven-days a week from 5pm and will serve food and drink. Later on in the evening, the bar transforms into a club providing DJ sets and live entertainment until the early hours.
Bar & Beyond general manager David Burgess, who is from Sheffield, said: “I’m really excited to be bringing Bar & Beyond to my home town. It’s a unique concept that gives customers the choice between a fun evening with food and a wide choice of drinks, or to stay out and party the night away. There’s nothing like it in Sheffield and I’m confident it will be a massive hit.”
The new site joins Chelmsford and Stevenage and the Sheffield move is the first Bar & Beyond site acquisition.
In preparation for its launch, the club is recruiting for a variety of roles including front of house, bar teams and hosts.
David said: "“We’re looking for talented people with a passion for customer service. Bar & Beyond is all about creating a fantastic night out and we want to build a team that does just that."
