SUPERFAST internet is on its way to parts of north Sheffield – with BT announcing it will upgrade the connection for 7,000 homes served by Deepcar exchange.

The work will be completed by spring 2012, when residents in areas including Stocksbridge will be able to use broadband of up to 40Mb/s.

The development is part of BT’s plan to invest £2.5 billion to deliver fibre broadband to up to two thirds of UK homes and businesses. Penistone and Stocksbridge Labour MP Angela Smith said: “This news is good for residents but also for businesses in the area.”
