A rescue greyhound described as ‘an absolute sweetheart’ is in need of a loving home after his leg injury was neglected by previous owners.
Four-year-old Reggie the greyhound has suffered complications after his broken leg was left untreated.
His previous owners, who kept Reggie for three months before giving him away once they were expecting a baby, thought his leg had been healed.
The broken bones in his hind leg had calcified and fused together, making it difficult for the greyhound to walk.
Jo Dimler, who volunteers at Greyhound Rescue South Yorkshire, saw an ad for Reggie, and got him to the vet where he underwent a lengthy operation.
She said he hasn’t a ‘bad bone in his body’ and added: “People see them as racing machines or dogs that want to chase everything that moves, but they’re the most gentle dogs.
“Reggie’s just an absolute sweetheart. He loves to cuddle and he’s a big softie.”
