Volunteers have helped to transform a neglected patch of land in Sheffield into a wildflower haven.

Gas engineers from National Grid joined forces with students from Hillsborough College and representatives of local organisations to make over a large verge area next to National Grid’s substation in Livesey Street.

Staff from charities the River Stewardship Company and Groundwork South Yorkshire were among those pitching in to clear the site of weeds and litter, making it ready for students to sow wildflowers.
