Contractors have stepped up efforts to repair lampposts in part of Sheffield after a call for action from the community.
The city council’s Streets Ahead team visited roads in Stocksbridge following reports that concrete was falling from some street lights, and tape was being used to cover cracks.
Inspectors found two columns were damaged beyond repair and removed them immediately.
A spokeswoman for Sheffield Council said: “Others are safe but have been scheduled for repair. The team is inspecting the other columns in the area.”
