Naked cyclists on Ecclesall Road - PICTURES!

THE bare-faced cheek of it!

These climate change protesters staged a cheeky protest on the streets of Sheffield - baring all to Sunday morning passers-by for a naked bike ride.

They rode up and down Ecclesall Road from Endcliffe Park to the city centre and back with their bodies clad with slogans and one even wearing a flower in her hair.

The event attracted bemused gazes from people out for a morning stroll, having a drink at one of the trendy street's cafs or on their way to church.

Organisers said the event was a "peaceful, imaginative and fun protest against oil dependency and car culture" and a "symbol of the vulnerability of the cyclist in traffic".

Onlooker Norman Gilman said: "The cyclists were wearing nothing but helmets and attracted further attention by blowing whistles and cheering as they travelled up and then down the road.

"However, the message was not too clear, as the lettering written on their bodies was not the focus of most people's attention."

It is the second year the event has been held in Sheffield. It takes place in 50 cities around the world as part of the World Naked Bike Ride campaign.
