A naked man whose arrest brought traffic to a standstill near a busy main road in Sheffield has been charged.

Kelly Savage, 48, of Woolridge Way, London, will appear at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court next month.

He has been charged with failing to stop for police and failing to provide a specimen for analysis.

Pictures on social media showed the man being arrested by officers close to the Sainsbury’s Local store on London Road.

A video posted by a Twitter user showed him crossing the road shortly before his arrest.

A spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Police said: “A call came in to police at around 2.15pm on Tuesday afternoon of a naked man who had entered a premise on Boston Street.

“The vehicle was stopped at the junction with Boston Street just before 2.30pm.

“The man was arrested and has since been charged with failing to stop for police and failing to provide a specimen for analysis.”
