A Sheffield music label has announced a three-pronged fundraiser effort to help the thousands of people estimated to be sleeping rough in the UK this Christmas.
Delicious Clam Records will release a Christmas compilation album, host a Christmas gig at Picture House Social, on Abbeydale Road, and hold an all-star raffle to raise funds for homeless charity HARC.
The fundraiser campaign kicks off this week with the release of Delicious Christmas volume 2, which features covers and original Christmas songs from bands including Best Friends, Avida Dollars, Radical Boy and Thee Mightees. After the success of last year’s Christmas compilation, the founders of Delicious Clam Records were eager to produce more songs and raise even more money in 2015.
Co-founder Ed Crisp said: “Last year we knew we wanted to do a fundraiser for a homeless charity, and doing a compilation EP seemed like a creative and enjoyable way.
“We were so pleased with the outcome, and the amount of money we managed to raise, that this year we’re setting our sights a lot higher. We’ve got 21 tracks, including a mixture of new Christmas originals and some pretty covers, from bands that we love and have worked with at some point over the past few years.
“It might sound clichéd, but it’s incredibly important to us to be able to use our resources to give something back to the local community, and this is a really interesting way to do it.
“Homelessness is a big issue and our fundraising efforts are to help support the people at HARC, who are putting real action into helping the most vulnerable in our society.”
