Yousaf, of Violet Bank Road, and Ahmed, of Broomhall Place, have pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Thomas, from Firshill, Sheffield, was a passenger in a silver Ford Mondeo when he was shot in Derek Dooley Way at around 10.15pm. He was taken to hospital but died a short time later from gun shot injuries.

The driver of the Mondeo, a 28-year-old Sheffield man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries but survived.

Yousaf’s parents, Mohammed Yousaf, 61, and Tazeem Bi, 57, both of Violet Bank Road, will also stand trial after pleading not guilty to perverting the course of justice.

The trial is anticipated to last around three weeks.
