Murder suspect arrested over Sheffield shooting remains in custody

A man arrested over a fatal shooting in Sheffield remains in police custody this morning.

The 29-year-old was arrested by armed police officers who pulled over a mini bus on The Parkway as it travelled towards Sheffield city centre yesterday.

He was arrested over the murder of Aseel Al-Essaie, 23, who was gunned down in Daniel Hill, Upperthorpe, on Saturday, February 18.

The waiter was rushed to hospital but could not be saved.

He had arrived for a family gathering to celebrate his twin sister's engagement when he was shot in his chest.

A 23-year-old woman, who was also arrested in the mini bus yesterday, remains in police custody this morning.

She is being held on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Five people are on bail in connection with the murder probe - one man arrested on suspicion of murder, three men arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder and a woman arrested on suspicion of assisting offenders.
