A man was stabbed to death in an attack in Sheffield, detectives have revealed today.
The 21-year-old, who has not yet been named, was found injured in a flat in Southey Avenue, Longley, at 9.45pm and was rushed to hospital, where he later died.
A police cordon is in place around the property and part of the street is sealed off.
Officers are guarding the crime scene while an examination is carried out.
A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "Detectives are in the initial stages of an investigation after a 21-year-old man was reportedly stabbed in the Longley area of Sheffield.
"Emergency services were called to a house in Southey Avenue at about 9.45pm last night, following reports that the man had been injured.
"The man was taken to hospital but sadly died later that evening. His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
"Enquiries are underway to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident and a murder investigation has been launched.
"At this time a cordon remains in place at the scene."
