Murder probe after Rotherham man assaulted in own home

A Rotherham man was assaulted in his own home and later died of his injuries sparking a murder investigation.

Detectives are investigating following the death of a 38-year-old man.

The man was assaulted at his home on Littlehey Close in Maltby, at around 1am on Friday October 30.

He was taken to hospital where he was receiving treatment for injuries he suffered as a result of the attack.

At approximately 4.45am on Wednesday November 4, while still in hospital, he collapsed and died.

A post-mortem examination has been carried out, however the results were inconclusive and further tests have been requested to determine the exact cause of death.

A number of enquiries have already been conducted in connection with assault and will continue over the coming days.
