A MUM-OF-TWO is raising money to buy memory boxes for the parents of stillborn children.

Julie Roberts wants to buy 17 ‘butterfly boxes’ to be handed to families facing the shock of stillbirths at Barnsley Hospital.

The boxes are aimed at helping grieving and unprepared parents capture a few precious memories of their babies.

The boxes include a fluffy blanket, a tiny outfit, teddies, a footprint cast set, a disposable camera, keepsake tin and a lullaby CD.

Julie, of Penistone, a community TV film producer, said: “While researching a film I learned that 17 families in the UK suffer the heartbreak of stillbirth every single day.

“I’ve known friends, relatives and colleagues who’ve lost children through miscarriage and stillbirth and everyone knows losing a child is the worst loss a person could experience.

“For just £30, one box could bring a little bit of comfort to a family experiencing miscarriage or stillbirth in our area.

“The packs will be kept to one side in the hospital and offered free of charge to bereaved parents.”
